11/365Is your family ready for an adventure that will change the way you think about food? The NuVal Nutritional Scoring System is an exciting new way of evaluating the nutritional value of food that is both fun and easy for all members of your family to use. Visit one of these 8 Coborn’s grocery stores to begin your first family NuVal adventure: St. Cloud – Cooper, St. Cloud – Centennial, Clearwater, Sartell, Sartell – Pine Cone, Foley, Sauk Rapids, and St. Joseph.

No Reading Labels, Unless You Want To Of Course

Not sure if you should buy wheat or oatmeal bread? Are pretzels more nutritious than tortilla chips? These are the decisions that NuVal scores can help you make – in seconds – as you’re walking down the supermarket aisle. At the Coborn’s stores selected to premiere this new system, you will find NuVal Scores are on supermarket shelves and signs throughout the store, making it easy to compare the overall nutrition of the foods at a glance.

On a Budget? No Problem!

nuval health shopping at CobornsNuVal scores help you get the most nutrition for your money by allowing you to compare price and nutrition– side-by-side on the same tag. Compare items to determine which product offers the better value, not just in price, but in nutrition as well. For instance, consumers may find that some varieties of frozen or canned vegetables score the same as fresh produce on the NuVal scale. You get to make an informed decision that is best for your family and budget!

The exciting part of this? Your kids are going to love how this healthy system of shopping will actually turn into a fun activity the whole family will enjoy. Not only will you be able to turn your “kids-in-tow” shopping experience into an activity, but you and your kids are sure to learn as you go. The discussions in which your family will engage and the healthier choices you make will benefit your family long after you’ve maneuvered the check-out line and bagging counter.

The NuVal System is being made available in Central Minnesota by BLEND in partnership with Coborn’s and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Minnesota.

“As a health company committed to making a healthy difference in people’s lives, Blue Cross works to find innovative ways to reduce obesity in Minnesota and the toll it takes on our health,” said Patrick Geraghty, CEO of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota. “We’re thrilled to be collaborating with Coborn’s and CentraCare’s BLEND organization to bring the NuVal Nutritional Scoring System to the St. Cloud area, thereby removing barriers and improving access to healthy eating. Now families will have the information they need to make the healthy choice the easy choice.”

  1. I am so excited to give this a try. I stopped at a Coborn’s yesterday on my way back from the cities, but they didn’t have the system yet. We’re planning a special trip to give it a try. I’d love to hear from other moms/dads who’ve had a chance to see it.
