Walkin' Wildcats Walk-A-Thon

Now that the school year has started many of us know fundraisers are just around the corner. Over the years, we’ve seen a number of fundraising options – you know, the kinds that have students selling magazines, wrapping paper, food and candy. These have all served its purpose, but one thing is for certain - none of these will allow the school to keep 100% of the profits.

BLEND continues to work with local schools encouraging them to commit to prioritizing the health of their students. The Walk-At-School initiative promotes healthy, active fundraising and makes it easy for schools to plan an event and raise the money they need without compromising health. There are no contracts, no products to sell, organize or deliver, and the best part – the school gets to keep 100% of the profit!

Healthy fundraisers, like walk-a-thons, serves a dual purpose - they eliminate the sale of unhealthy foods as a school fundraising strategy and they provide additional opportunities for students to be physically active. Walk-At-School is a win-win for the entire school.

This fall, nine area schools are hosting a healthy fundraiser.  Last Friday (9/14/12) Westwood Elementary hosted their 2nd annual walk-a-thon. Look at the list below for upcoming healthy fundraising events.
