Greater Minnesota Regional Parks and Trails Coalition
The Greater Minnesota Regional Parks and Trails Coalition is a membership-based organization taking an active role in advocating for fair allocation of the Park and Trail Legacy funding. As a result of their organized efforts, which includes a committed core of active members and lobbyist, Dan Larson, the coalition was able to obtain over $7 million of Legacy funds EXCLUSIVELY for Greater Minnesota annually for the next two years. The coalition also helped acquire $2 million from the Environmental Trust Fund which feeds the DNR grant program designated for Regional Parks, Trails and Connections throughout Greater Minnesota.
To continue to be effective, the GMRPT needs to build coalition support and buy-in by membership - achieving more active and energetic involvement in it’s quest for equity. The role of BLEND is to help organize constituent support in Central MN and provide Action Alerts when and where help is needed most.
